Waxing vs. Shaving
Waxing has lots of advantages over shaving, primarily due to how it removes hair and the effect is has on the skin and regrowth of the hair.
Lasting Results
Waxing removes the hair from the root which causes it to take longer to grow back - typically 3-6 weeks. Shaving only cuts hair at the surface which causes the hair to grow back much faster.
Finer Regrowth
Over time, waxing can result in softer/finer hair regrowth as opposed to the coarser hair that usually regrows after shaving.
Exfoliation
Waxing can exfoliate the skin by removing dead skin cells along with the hair. This will leave the skin smoother.
Less Frequent Maintenance
Since waxing provides longer-lasting results, it requires less frequent upkeep compared to shaving, which may need to be done every few days.
No Cuts/Nicks
Unlike shaving, which can cause cuts, nicks or razor burn, waxing eliminates the risk of these common shaving issues.
Reduced Irritation
Many experience less irritation of the skin, especially in the more sensitive areas.
Pain Factor?
Waxing can be more painful than shaving and can cause temporary redness or bumps right after treatment. Waxing usually require some hair growth (usually 1/4 inch) before it can be effective.
